Welcome to Jess Jones Vineyard

In 1997 Jess Jones planted his "test" vineyard on the family farm south of Dixon. He planted six varieties of wine grapes (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Chardonnay, and Sangiovese) to see how each would grow and produce wine grapes on his soil and in the delta climate. He found that all six varieties did quite well here!

Although Jess sold most of his early grapes to other winemakers, his first wines (Merlot and Cabernet) were produced from his 2000 harvest. They were a surprising success!

During all of these years, Jess has been studying winemaking at U.C. Davis and attending various conferences and conventions. He began producing his own wine again in 2004. Jess Jones Vineyard has finally bottled six types of dessert wines - 4 blushes and 2 ports. Besides our Merlot and Cab, all of these are now available for your enjoyment!
